Global Shading Day is an annual event from the European Solar Shading Organisation to raise awareness about the positive benefits of solar shading products.

It takes place on the 21st March to highlight how shading can help combat climate change, creating more sustainable, energy efficient buildings.

Did you know? Typically 18% of heat loss in homes occurs through windows*.

Here’s a quick reminder on how effective blinds are at regulating temperatures in the home.

Great information to educate your customers on the importance of choosing the right window blind:

-  Consider honeycomb blackout blinds with a cellular design for better insulation as they can reduce heat up to 32%*

-  Choose products with reflective backings such as pleated or roller fabrics, and white-backed blinds to enhance energy-saving properties

-  During summer, keep blinds closed during the day to prevent heat buildup and open them in the evening to allow head to escape and improve ventilation

-  Open blinds during the day to capture free solar energy

-  Close blinds during winter evenings for extra insulation, reducing heat loss and saving energy
